Marauders begin summer season
BENNINGTON — The Bennington Marauders begin its summer season on Monday, June 20. The season runs from June 20 to August 7.
The Marauders offer four different swimming levels and swim lesson options. Practices will be Monday-Friday from 4:15-5:30 p.m. (days and times will vary based on level).
All interested swimmers (including swim lesson level) are welcome to come try three practices before making a commitment.
The team swims its home meets at the Bennington Rec Center and the first one is Tuesday, June 28 at 5 p.m.

BLR returns for fifth year
BENNINGTON >> The fifth annual Blue Lollipop Road Play it Forward alumni soccer game will take place on July 9 at 2 p.m. at Willow Park in Bennington. The event is in memory of two Mount Anthony soccer players who died while still in school.
Registration for the event is $35 and includes a 2016 Play it Forward jersey. Two scholarship winners will also be presented and there will be a kids fun run at halftime of the game. T-shirts can be purchased for $20.
All the money raised via registration and shirts will go to a Mount Anthony school group going to Nicaragua for volunteer work in February.
On Friday night, there will be a welcome back block party at Ramunto's and after the game, there is plans for celebration cocktails at Pangaea in North Bennington.

Lady Patriot basketball camp
BENNINGTON >> The Lady Patriot basketball camp will take place from June 27 to July 1 at Mount Anthony Union High School.
The camp is for children from kindergarten to sixth grade. Players in K-3 go from 8 to 10:30 a.m., while 4th-6th is from 10:45 to 1:45 p.m.
The cost for the camp is $85, which includes a T-shirt and a basketball. The focus of the camp will be on skill development and fundamentals.

Travel softball team seeks players
BENNINGTON >> If you're a girl who loves softball and are looking for more games after your school season ends, then travel softball is for you!
The New England Alliance team is looking for more players. If you're a motivated, committed, hardworking athlete, and want to play softball this summer, contact head coach Stacy Riche at 518-796-1521.
The 14-and-under New England Alliance is traveling to Keene and Hampton Beach, N.H., as well as Glens Falls and Amsterdam, N.Y. To culminate the season, we travel to Eastern Nationals in York, Pa. Try outs will be on June 16 in Salem from 6-8 p.m.
Youth lax camp at Willow Park
BENNINGTON >> The Southern Vermont Youth Lacrosse camp for boys will be held in Willow Park from July 11 to July 14.
The camp for players ages 6-8 will attend from 9 to 11 a.m. while the 9-16 age group will attend from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
A great camp to introduce the sport of lacrosse to new players and equipment is available for those who need it.
The cost is $75 for 6-8 year olds and $150 for 9-16 year olds.
College lacrosse camp upcoming
BENNINGTON >> Former Mount Anthony and current University of Arizona assistant men's lacrosse coach Paul Reif will return to Vermont for a two-week clinic this summer, starting on June 21, 22 and 23 and then on June 27, 28 and 29 from 5-7 p.m. at Willow Park.
The camp will consist of six 2-hour college-style practices conducted by current and former college coaches and players. The focus will be on advanced individual and team skills, including terminology and concepts.
There will be individual evaluations and information on the recruiting process.
The camp will take place at Willow Park and is for high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors. The cost is $100 for field players and $50 for goalies.

Southern Vermont football camp
MANCHESTER >> The Sparxx Athletics football camp for youth players will run from July 11 to 14 at Taylor Field on the campus of Burr and Burton Academy.
The camp, which goes each day from 5 to 8 p.m., will showcase the top college and high school football players in the area in a hands-on experience to improve the grassroots of football.
The cost to attend the camp is $100, and $125 after June 1.
Werner holding annual soccer camps
ARLINGTON >> Retired Arlington and Castleton soccer coach John Werner will again be running soccer camps locally. Werner and his experienced staff are committed to providing a quality camp experience, with the emphasis on learning and fun, at a reasonable cost.
The three camps are as follows:
The Battenkill Soccer Camp for those entering grades 1 through 8 will be held the week of July 18 from 9 a.m. until noon at Greenwich Central School in Greenwich, N.Y. This camp emphasizes the technical development of each player as well as small group tactics. The co-director is Coach Tim Kelleher, Greenwich varsity boys coach.
The Arlington Soccer Camp for those entering grades 1 through 8 will be held the week of Aug. 1 from 9 a.m. until noon at Arlington High School. This camp also emphasizes the technical development of each player as well as small group tactics.
The Arlington Senior Soccer Camp for those entering grades 9 through 12 will be held the week of Aug. 1 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Arlington High School. This camp includes position specific training.
