Man killed in Chesterfield crash

CHESTERFIELD, N.H. -- A Massachusetts man was killed in a crash on Rt. 9, Wednesday night, after the tractor trailer he was driving "jack-knifed" and slid into an embankment.

The man's identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.

According to State Police, the vehicle was traveling westbound when the trailer began to slide, "due to the icy road conditions. ... It appears that the operator attempted to exit via the driver's side door" at some point.

Once the tractor trailer came to rest on the shoulder, the driver was pinned underneath the vehicle. Members of the Chesterfield Police and Fire Departments were unable to extricate him and he died at the scene.

The incident is still under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Rich Camacho at 603-358-3333.
