Man faces child pornography charges
SAND LAKE, N.Y. -- A 24-year-old Sand Lake man was arrested on child pornography charges after a six-month investigation by the Capital Region Child Exploitation Task Force.
Travis Edwards, a registered Level 2 sex offender currently on probation for a prior rape conviction, was charged with felonies of promoting sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child according to the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office. He was due to be arraigned Thursday in town court.
In a written release, police said his computer was confiscated as evidence after a search warrant was executed at his Chaundray Lane home in Sand Lake. Edwards was taken into custody and transported to the Rensselaer County Jail.
The arrest came after a six-month investigation by the regional task force that included the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office, Rensselaer County Probation Department, the FBI, and the Saratoga Springs Police Department.
