Mack community mourns loss of friend, colleague

ARLINGTON - Mack Molding on Tuesday made the following announcement regarding the recent death of one of its employees, Larry Walck: "It is with deep sadness that we announce the untimely death of Larry Walck, director, business development, Mack Molding. Just 45 years old, he passed away early Saturday morning, January 11, following a tragic sledding accident at Stratton Mountain Resort, Stratton, Vt."

Jeff Somple, president, Mack Molding Northern Operations, said "Larry was a wonderful friend and a tremendous co-worker to all of us at Mack. He was a driving force behind our growth over the years and will be sorely missed. Our condolences go out to his lovely wife, Jennifer, and his children, Christian and Justina. On a personal level, Larry was a close friend. On a business level, Mack has lost one of its best. Please join us in keeping Larry and his family in your thoughts and prayers."

Per the statement from Mack, Walck, an avid hockey fan and player, was visiting Vermont over the weekend to participate in a men's hockey tournament. He played regularly with a men's league in New Jersey, where he resided in Pittstown. He also volunteered much of his time to youth sports, coaching baseball for the Delaware Valley Athletic Association and serving as a board member for the Delaware Valley Junior Lacrosse program.

Winhall Police reported Saturday that Walck was injured on the Lower Tamarac Ski Trail at Stratton Mountain Resort, where they responded, along with Winhall Rescue and Londonderry Rescue at approximately 2:40 a.m. for a report of a sledding accident. Despite efforts to resuscitate him, Walck "succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene," according to a police report.

Walck joined Mack in 2000 as new business development manager, and was promoted to director in 2006. Prior to that, he was national sales and marketing manager for Polycel Structural Foam Plastics Inc., Somerville, N.J. Larry was a graduate of Raritan Valley College, Somerset, N.J., and had completed graduate coursework in marketing/business administration.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Rebinski Walck; a son, Christian, and a daughter, Justina.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday in Annandale, N.J.
