Long Trail girls soccer shuts out Craftsbury

CRAFTSBURY — The Long Trail girls soccer team had no trouble moving on in the Division IV playoffs Friday afternoon as the No. 5 seed Mountain Lions shut out No.4 Craftsbury Academy 6-0 on the road.

Markie Moore led the way for Long Trail, tallying four goals in the contest. The other two Mountain Lions goals came from Rowan Russell and Sionann Harrington.

Long Trail was putting pressure on the opposing defense throughout as the Chargers goalkeeper Ashley Princ had to make 19 saves. Mountain Lions goalkeeper Emery Letendre made three saves on the day.

Long Trail will move on to the state semifinals where they will take on the winner of undefeated No. 1 seed Arlington and No. 8 Twin Valley's game, taking place this afternoon. The semifinal game is scheduled to be played on Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Eagles outlasted in OT

SOUTH ROYALTON — The Arlington boys soccer team's season came to an end Friday afternoon as they dropped a heart-breaker in overtime to No. 3 seed South Royalton 1-0.

The lone goal in the game came with 1:12 left in the overtime period when Royals' Connor Lambert sprinted into the box and received a ball from Alvaro Sanabrio, who was streaking down the sideline, and put the ball past Eagles goalkeeper Bailey Cross to end the contest.

Cross made five saves in the game, while South Royalton goalkeeper Sam Fisk made four stops.

MAYAA registration

BENNINGTON — The Mount Anthony Youth Athletic Association will host a pair of registration nights for its basketball program.

The two in-person registrations will take place on Nov. 7 and Nov. 9 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Bennington Elementary School.

The board will be at the registrations for parents to ask questions.

Registration is already online at www.mayaabasketball.com and will be until Nov. 3. The cost is $40 per child or $70 per family.

MAYAA is for kids from grades 1 to 6.

Track and Treat Halloween Fun Run in North Bennington

NORTH BENNINGTON — The Village School of North Bennington is hosting a 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, Oct 28. There will also be an Obstacle/Adventure Course available for the younger children. Registration is at 8 a.m. with the Family Fun Run/Walk at 9 a.m. and the 5K Run/Walk at 9:30 A.M.. 5K Pre-registration is $20, day of race is $25; Family Fun Run $10.

Participants are encouraged to dress in costume and prizes will be given! Bring the entire family to the Village School of North Bennington for a fun morning.
