Letters to the editor: Support Shaftsbury store

Support local store

I have been following the progress on the reopening of the Shaftsbury country store. I have been blessed to have been a resident in Shaftsbury and have many fond memories of the store. Just like many others we were happy to see it reopen.

A week and a half ago I had the pleasure to meet the new owner Stephanie and her employees and needles to say I have become a return customer. The food is great, I've become a big fan of the stout bbq pulled pork, customer service is wonderful, and prices are right.

I have been so bothered by all the problems these young people have been going through and now after speaking to Stephanie Hockett today while being closed, I found out, they one again lost all product, have lost revenue and much more due to building maintenance and she volunteered to close for this week because of the septic overflowing and not chancing any contamination and this is the third time things have happened where they have lost all product and them having to purchase everything over and over again.

I would love to help this young team to be successful and would love to see the store stay in business as it is an icon. As a community we should show our support.

— George Smith Shaftsbury
