Letters: No conflict of interest
A recent letter from a Mr. Jared Della Rocca stating that I have a conflict of interest in the proposed location of the new town garage is totally absurd. I have publicly stated numerous times that I believe it is crazy to put the new garage any place other than there, as the town already owns the property. As to his charge that it is a conflict of interest for me to sit on the board because I may do work for the town, there is no work going out to bid that I am aware of; if any work comes up I may be interested in, I would certainly recuse myself from voting on it. Mr. Della Rocca is certainly entitled to his opinion. I consider the matter closed.
Shaftsbury Thank you to donors
On Dec, 20 and 21, Green Mountain Christian Center conducted our sixth annual Green Mountain Christmas. The congregation, with the support of local businesses, service clubs and individuals gave away over 1,500 gifts. We were able to help over 200 local families choose toys for over 500 children. Parents and grandparents were thankfully thrilled to go home with wrapped new toys in preparation for Christmas morning.
While parents "shopped" free of charge, in the gift room their children enjoyed cookies and milk, decorating gingerbread houses, listening to Christmas music and Christmas stories.
A merry "Thank you!" to the following merchants, clubs and individuals for their enthusiasm and generosity in partnering with us to make this event such a joyful success. May God Bless You: Anytime Fitness Anonymous donors, Armstrong Jewelers, Bennington Bookstore, Bennington Rotary Club, Bennington Sports & Graphics, Christian Bookstore, Cindy Krautheim, Evans News, Hannaford, Here We Grow, Flower Works, Gamers Grotto, Gift Garden, Greenbergs, Hawkins House, Jay’s Art and Framing, Knapp’s, LM Realty, Madison’s, NorShaft Lions Club, Oldcastle Theatre, Price Chopper, Ramunto’s Pizza, Rehmbrandt’s, Rent-a-Center, Sears, Staples, Wassick Tire, and Wills Insurance.
