Letters: Misinformation and negative stereotyping
I am not a Bennington Town resident. I did not attend the Select Board meeting on July 14. I did watch the proceedings on CAT-TV.
It was shocking to witness the hostility to Shires Housing, to the person who spoke in support of the development, the misinformation, the negative stereotyping. The state representative who spoke could have helped to improve the tone of the meeting, but did not.
I do not think this is a face of Bennington which will draw business or thoughtful people to the town.
Participate in state primary
I would like to encourage the voters of Bennington and North Bennington to participate in the state primary to be held on August 26, 2014. The ballots are now available at the Town Clerk's Office. The office is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You may vote in person at the Town Clerk's Office during regular business hours or have a ballot mailed. If you need a ballot mailed to you, please call the Town Clerk's Office at 802-442-1043.The deadline for voter registration is August 20, 2014 at 5:00 PM. =A0Vermont State law allows anyone who wants to cast an early ballot to do so without giving any reason.
Voting for Bennington residents will be at the Firehouse at the corner of River and Lincoln Streets. For residents of North Bennington, voting will be at the North Bennington Village Trustees Office on the corner of Main and Depot Streets in North Bennington. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
