Letters: Keeping the school ‘our school’

The afternoon of April 11, 2013 at about 5:30 p.m. a major change took place in the library of the North Bennington Graded School. A metamorphose of the North Bennington Graded School into the The Village School of North Bennington. I felt there should have been applause, music and balloons, but, there was the quiet collective School Board putting their names to a document that will change this small school for years to come. And, that is the essence of the reason for our change, to keep our school OUR SCHOOL and not see it absorbed into a larger entity that would engulf it.

The goal is to keep the best of what we are and to continue to give our students the same care and nurturing we have been recognized for doing over the years. We must continue to meet the needs of our students in this ever changing world we live in.

Change is never easy, growing is never easy but we have as a community always been up to the challenge.

To all who have put their "all" into making this happen, congratulations. Now I can only hope that those who doubted will come join the parade, bring your balloons, so we can work together to continue to have our Village School be the best it can be.
