Letters: Getting the word out about two days of events for Vietnam veterans
On Tuesday Feb. 4, I was in Montpelier for a Governor’s Veterans Advisory Council Meeting and also to go before the House Ways & Means Committee to testify before them on H.694 "An act relating to exempting certain forms of income for permanently and totally disabled veterans from the calculation of household income." Also I had the chance to meet Mrs. Vicki Strong, a GoldStar Mother who is now a member of the House. I asked her to do a Joint Resolution on "Welcome Home Day Vietnam Veterans" with a date of March 29, 2014. I received a call from her last night and it will be done and read on the House floor on March 28, 2014 about 10 a.m. So we need to get the word out to all our Vietnam Veterans and have them come up to the capital on that day and go into the House for the reading.
Also the very next day in Bennington at the Vermont Veterans Home we will have two events; one starting at noon with the reading of the resolution, and then raising the 55 50th Anniversary flags with the help of veterans and school kids.
Secondly, we are working with www.youareneveralonefoundation.org on an event in the mutli-purpose room with school kids stating about from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. with veterans also.
So I need all your help in getting this word out about these two days of events for Vietnam veterans here in Vermont.
I also could use your help in calling the Capitol Sgt. of Arms office at 802-828-2228 and telling them that you want to let the House Ways & Means Committee know that you would like them to support this important bill, H.694, for our disabled veterans.
Please any questions contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call me at 802-733-8576.
