Letter: Vote 'yes' for Cheney Library
Libraries are education. Come to Cheney Library after Hoosick Falls Central High School is dismissed and you will find a number of students here engaged in activities that are usually self-guided or using library materials, computers, and talking with staff. Some of our regulars are Alexis, Vincent, Gabrielle, Aryanna, Hailey, Chloe and others. During the early afternoon we have younger children who enjoy playing in the bright and cheery children's room. The library is a safe zone in the community for all ages, birth to old age. The library is not just a building, but a dedicated staff and volunteers that provide service to the community and also are a part of that community.
So please vote YES for Cheney Library on Nov. 7 so that we can continue to supply the Hoosick area with: fiction and non-fiction books, large print books, CDs bith music and audio, videos, and magazines. So that we can continue to provide programs: story time for preschoolers, Lego clubs, book clubs, summer reading program, interlibrary items at no cost, Wi-fi, five computers for public use with high speed internet, and delivery of books to homebound patrons. By saying YES for Cheney Library you are helping to maintain the long history of the library into the future. Because it costs $95,000 annually to operate the library, that is what we are asking you to approve in tax support; just 86 cents per year for each $1,000 in assessed property value.
