Letter to the editor: Why the negativity?

Why the negativity?

I feel the need to respond to the article "Knapp's brings back arcade" written by Makayla McGeeney in the May 31 Bennington Banner.

The article begins in an upbeat fashion regarding Knapps reopening their arcade next to their retail store. Bennington is really making strides in revitalizing its Downtown District, and this is a great addition for young and old alike. My complaint is that midway through her article, Ms. McGeeney feels it necessary to add a 2011 negative Yelp review regarding Knapps when it was a pet store, yet earlier in her article she states that it is no longer a pet store. Why the negativity? The Outwaters and other local business owners are working diligently for our downtown. These citizens, besides giving us a wonderful place to shop, support our community by employing locals, paying taxes, giving to local community groups and giving their time to local committees. My friends and I shop at Knapps for great well-made children's educational toys and games. They have a really good selection of Vinyl and musical instruments for all ages. Stop in and check them out as well as the other downtown shops. You won't be disappointed. Shop small and support your local businesses.
