Letter to the editor: Bennington Police did an outstanding job
Bennington Police did an outstanding job
I rarely make the time to send in any comments regarding a certain situation, but I feel compelled to let your readers know what an outstanding job the Bennington Police Department did in response to the robbery that occurred at the Heritage Family Credit Union Bennington Branch this past Friday.
Chief of Police Paul Doucette and the entire department did a tremendous job. Not only did they apprehend a suspect in record fashion, but they worked with our staff to help make them feel safe and secure after a harrowing experience. The professionalism displayed by these officers is to be commended. In fact, by the time I had made my way from Rutland to the branch, they already had the situation well under control and were working on numerous leads.
During these times, when police work is more often criticized than it is applauded, I feel grateful that this dedicated and well-trained group of officers were available to assist our staff during this difficult time.
In addition, I'd like to personally thank the community of Bennington for their outpouring of support for the safety and welfare of our staff. Numerous members, individuals and businesses contacted our call center in Rutland to ask only one thing...."how was the staff in Bennington holding up after this traumatic event". All of those personal messages were relayed to the ladies and you could see how much that meant to them and their overall state of mind.
I can assure you that Heritage Family Credit Union will continue to remain committed to the community of Bennington and serving the needs of our members into the future.
— Matt Levandowski, president/CEO, Heritage Family Credit Union.
