Letter: Students write in support of Mr. O'Connor

We have acknowledged that Jerry O'Connor could possibly be losing his position as vice principal at Bennington Elementary School after roughly 6 years. Before this job, Jerry had worked at Mount Anthony Union Middle School for a very long time. As the group of girls who are writing this, we personally have never had him as a teacher or a vice principal, but we do know that he is very passionate about what he does. A few years back, we were struggling to find a coach for our Girls AAU Basketball team. When we were about to give up, Jerry stepped forward to help.

After that moment, he voluntarily dedicated two nights a week and almost every weekend to coach us through our practices and tournaments, despite his busy schedule with all his other priorities. Even to this day, Jerry continues to support the six of us, attending every one if our home basketball games and still goes out of his way to give us tips when needed. Jerry O'Connor is a hard working man who loves his job and every single kid he works with. He puts the majority of his time into helping the kids with their academics and even their basketball skills. Upon hearing about this devastating news, we decided to write this letter to inform the public about our relationship with Jerry and how dedicated he is to the school and his students. Jerry O'Connor is a huge asset to the community and it's a shame that this is happening to him.
