Jim Brown named 2016 Outstanding Community Service Banker in Vermont

BENNINGTON >> The Vermont Bankers Association honored Jim Brown with the 2016 Outstanding Community Service Banker Award, Monday at the North Street branch.

This was the 32nd anniversary of the award being presented to deserving bankers who exemplify real and tangible dedication to the communities in which they serve. Brown is President and CEO at The Bank of Bennington and has been with the bank for 15 years, serving as President and CEO for eight of those years. During that time, he consistently demonstrated a strong desire to make our community a better place to work, live and play. His service over the years has included board participation with Southern Vermont Medical Center and The Bennington Museum, Rotary Club, Southern Vermont College, Vermont Banker's association, Riley Rink and Bennington County Industrial Corporation. Additionally, Jim coaches youth baseball and hockey. Most recently, Jim in collaboration with other civic minded community leaders, founded Bennington Redevelopment Group LLC. This is a transformative project that will change the story of Bennington. Shannon McLenithan, Vice President of Residential Lending nominated Jim for the award saying, "The Bank of Bennington is fortunate to have a leader that is an integral part of the community collaborating with key players within the community to envision a future, identify paths to success and carry out that vision. Jim is a perfect example of the passion and commitment of a genuine community banker."
