Isabel M. McGuire Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society inducts 14 new members
HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. >> Members of the Isabel M. McGuire National Junior Honor Society chapter at Hoosick Falls Central School welcomed 14 new members at an induction ceremony held May 5.
This was the second annual induction ceremony for the NJHS at Hoosick Falls Central School. The ceremony began with all of the current members seated on the stage, while current members of NJHS explained requirements, the NJHS emblem, scholarship, leadership, character, and service. Each member walked to the head of the aisles in the auditorium and called out the name of a student who was to be tapped, and walked them back to the stage.
Ms. Danforth, NJHS advisor said, "Every student is unique, but National Junior Honor Society members share some marvelous traits. Of course, they have done well - very well - in their academic endeavors."
She added, "A portion of their success comes from each student's innate drive and desire to do well. It was born in them. Some of their success should be attributed to the efforts of the very fine teachers here in Hoosick Falls.
Then, there is the input that came from the community – church, employers, friends, Scout leaders, coaches - all these are significant. The strongest contribution to the success of these young people comes from their families."
The National Junior Honor Society is named in memory of beloved Math teacher Isabel McGuire, who was a positive force in our school and community. The members of Junior Honor Society will keep her legacy vital through their continued service and leadership. High school principal Stacy Vadney said, "Because of their exemplary service, character, leadership and academic achievement, the new members of the NJHS earned this recognition. Congratulations to all of them."
