Hubbard Hall Center for the Arts and Education announces "Music from Salem" July concerts

CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. >> Hubbard Hall is pleased to be hosting a stunning series of Music from Salem concerts. Each concert has its title taken from Rainer Maria Rilke's The Duino Elegies and As Once The Winged Energy Of Delight translated by A.S. Klein. Also noteworthy is the Music From Salem Listening Club event on Saturday, July 30 where excerpts from Hubbard Hall Opera Theater's Madama Butterfly will be performed.

A Wave Lifted Towards You, on July 10 at 4 p.m. will feature: Sergei Prokofiev Overture on Hebrew Themes for clarinet, string quartet, & piano, Eric Thomas Trio for clarinet, viola, and piano, Antonin Dvorak from "Cypresses" for string quartet, and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Piano Trio, opus 50. Performers will include: Markus Placci, David Rubin, violins; Lila Brown, viola; Jan Müller-Szeraws, cello; Eric Thomas, clarinet and soprano saxophone; Judith Gordon, piano. The suggested ticket price for this event $25; Pay what you can, all are welcome.

The Unbroken Message, on July 17 at 4 p.m. will feature: Luigi Boccherini String Trio, opus 47, Thomas Oboe Lee Oboe Quartet, world premiere, and Ernest Chausson Piano Quartet, opus 30. Performers will include: Calvin Wiersma, violin; Lila Brown, viola; Kari Ravnan, cello; Peggy Pearson, oboe; Nina Tichman, piano. The suggested ticket price for this event $25; Pay what you can, all are welcome.

Music from Salem and Hubbard Hall Opera Theater present a Listening Club for Puccini's Madama Butterfly on July 30 at 2 p.m. For this Listening Club we are again joined by guest artists from Hubbard Hall Opera Theater who will delight us with their fabulous singing, in anticipation of their production of the opera at Hubbard Hall in August. Open to all, no musical background necessary, just come and enjoy. A suggested ticket price for this event is $15; Pay what you can, all are welcome.

The Winged Energy of Delight, on Sunday, July 31 at 4 p.m. will feature: John Kennedy "The Winged Energy of Delight" for toy piano, Federico Mompou from Musica Calada for toy piano, Heitor Villa-Lobos Duo for violin and viola, W 463, and Erich Korngold Piano Quintet, opus 15. Performers will include: Saul Bitran and Sarah Kim, violins; Lila Brown, viola; David Russell, cello; Judith Gordon, piano and toy piano. The suggested ticket price for this event $25; Pay what you can, all are welcome.
