Hoosick Falls men charged with stealing car, breaking into Bennington gas station
Two Hoosick Falls, N.Y., men are facing felony charges after police said they stole a vehicle used in a burglary in Bennington, Vt.
In addition, police said they may have solved several local car larcenies over the past two months.
Dillon Hall, 23, and Edward Cook, 32, were each charged Sunday with fourth-degree grand larceny — a felony, and two counts of petit larceny. Both were sent to the Rensselaer County jail in lieu of $40,000 bail.
Police said the pair stole a vehicle after 1 a.m. Sunday and then drove to Bennington, where they broke into a gas station. The suspects fled the scene, police said, but after they came back into New York state, they struck a tree and took off.
Hoosick Falls police were notified by Bennington police about the burglary and said they were able to identify Hall and Cook.
Also, police said during the course of the investigation, they were able to locate property believed to have been stolen from cars in the village over the past two months. Anyone who has had items taken are asked to contact the Hoosick Falls Police Department at 518-686-7900.
The Bennington Police Department will be following up and are expected to file burglary charges against the two men.
