SHAFTSBURY — About a dozen organizations marched in the Norshaft Shaftsbury Memorial Day parade on Monday. Every other year the parade is held in North Bennington.

Linda Meskun and family placed a wreath at Cole Hall in front of the Honor Roll in remembrance of all Veterans, including Sergeant James Meskun, who was a founding member and chair of the Shaftsbury Veterans Committee and all other military personnel who lost their lives.

The parade traveled from Cole Hall across Route 7A down Church Street, turned left onto Cleveland Avenue and followed Route 7A. At the Village Cemetery, a wreath was presented to honor fallen firemen and first responders. The Mount Anthony Union High School Marching Band played the National Anthem. Taps played by Susan Green, Music Director at Shaftsbury Elementary School and her students.

The parade finished at the Shaftsbury Fire House.
