Home health aid charged with stealing eldery an clients money, prescription drugs
BENNINGTON — A local woman is facing charges for allegedly stealing money and prescription drugs from an elderly client while she was employed as a home health aid, according to Vermont State Police.
Krystyn Denue, 25, of Bennington, was arrested on Monday afternoon, according to a press release issued by Trooper Lauren Ronan of the Shaftsbury Barracks.
An 84-year-old Pownal woman first notified authorities in September 2014. She told police several thousand dollars and some of her prescription medication had been stolen from her home and suspected Denue, a home health aid, had taken them.
As the result of an investigation, state police arrested Denue and charged her with petit larceny and the possession of a controlled drug obtained by fraud.
An investigation by the state police and the state Attorney General's Medicaid fraud and Residential Abuse Unit is ongoing.
Denue is scheduled to appear in Bennington County Criminal Court on December 28.
