Haynes picked as Wasaren League player of the year

HOOSICK, N.Y. — A day after the league all-stars were announced, Hoosick Falls Central School senior girls soccer player Jordyn Haynes was chosen as the Wasaren League player of the year for 2015.

Despite facing double-teams and man-marking defenses, Haynes scored 20 goals this season, including hat tricks against Hoosic Valley and Greenwich. She also scored multiple goals against Granville twice and Schuylerville, in the season opener.

In her six-year career for the Panthers, Haynes, a two-time Class C state champion, has obliterated the school's scoring record with 130 tallies. Her most goals in a season came in her freshman season when she scored 33 times. She took the school record from Grace Delurey early in her sophomore season (2013) and hit the century mark last season (2014) against Cambridge.

Hoosick Falls finished the season dropping a Class B semifinal matchup with Catholic Central.
