Guidelines for Good Shepherd Shelter

Saturday April 20, 2013

BENNINGTON -- The Good Shepherd Shelter welcomes guests on a first come, first served basis. The shelter opens at 4 p.m. for intake, and an intake worker is present from 4 to 8 p.m. If a guest needs to access the shelter after 8 p.m. a call should be made to 6 Bank St. (802-442-2424) to determine if there is a place available. If a place is available, the guest will go to the shelter, and intake will be done by phone or in the morning. During intake, the shelter worker will consider other community programs which may be helpful to that particular guest, and referrals will be made. An appointment will also be made with a case manager, who can fully coordinate the programs available to that guest, and follow up with the guest and agencies to which that guest is referred. Each guest must leave the premises during the day by 10 a.m., and may return at 4 p.m. in order to secure a place for that night.

If a guest leaves the Shelter after 8 p.m., other than to step outside for a cigarette, that guest cannot return the same night. Cell phones, radios and other devices which make noise must be silenced between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
