Green Mountain Power preparing for possible storms Tuesday afternoon
COLCHESTER — Green Mountain Power is preparing for a strong wind and rainstorm that is forecasted to hit Tuesday afternoon and could cause outages across the state. The storm could blow trees onto power lines and also snap power poles at the base.
"Our crews are preparing now and are ready to respond quickly to any outages from this strong wind storm," said Kristin Carlson, GMP chief communications executive. "Early preparation is key to making sure we can get the lights on quickly and safely for customers."
As we head into July, which is the worst month for storms and storm related damage causing outages, safety is critical. GMP reminds customers to be safe by staying away from any downed power lines and by being extra careful on the roads.
Green Mountain Power will provide updates on Facebook, Twitter and to the media. Customers may report outages and get updates through GMP's text service or award winning app, as well as calling 1-888-835-4672, or visiting GMP's Outage Center page at www.greenmountainpower.com.
To get the latest information on outages and restoration times, customers can sign up for text service alerts, by texting REG to 46788 or GMPVT, or signing up online at greenmountainpower.com/textalerts. Customers can also sign up for GMP'app to report outages with a touch of a finger at the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and search for GMP.
