Fair Haven man denies threatening bystanders with chainsaw
RUTLAND, VT. >> A western Vermont man has denied charges that he threatened to kill a crowd of people gathered outside a Rutland dance club with a chainsaw earlier this year.
The Rutland Herald reports 26-year-old Justin Allen pleaded not guilty in Rutland on Monday to charges of felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.
Allen faces up to six years in prison if he's convicted.
Police say Allen terrorized a group of 20 people standing outside The Local on Merchants Row with a running chainsaw just before closing time on March 26.
The first officer on the scene, Cpl. Damon Nguyen, arrived just after 2 a.m. to find Allen with the chainsaw. The Fair Haven man was arrested shortly after more law enforcement officials responded.
