Ex-worker due in court on embezzlement charges

BARRE (AP) - A former Vermont state employee is due in court on charges she embezzled more than $50,000.

Lisa Peduzzi of Plainfield resigned this month from her position as a claims examiner in the office of risk management. She is accused of setting up false claims against the state and using the payments to pay her property taxes and buy guitars, boats, automobiles and jewelry.

Peduzzi, who is 51, had worked for the state since 2006. She was arrested Friday and is set to be arraigned Monday in Barre.
