Everyone in Searsburg is getting a cookie

SEARSBURG -- Good news, Searsburg, you're all getting a cookie on Monday.

According to the public relations firm for Nabisco, the company that makes Oreos, Searsburg is one of 50 small towns across America where each household will be sent one Oreo Mini inside a special package.

A representative for the company said the idea behind the promotion is to celebrate small things. Each state in the Union was researched in order to determine which of its towns was the smallest and still capable of receiving mail.

The cookies will arrive the same day www.OREOMiniDelivery.com goes live. The website will allow people to have an Oreo Mini delivered to the person of their choice as a thank you for the small things they do to make life a little better.

The website will also contain photos and facts of some of the towns involved. There are no pictures of Searsburg right now, but one fact that will be shared is the town's connection to wind power.

Green Mountain Power owns several wind turbines in Searsburg, and larger facilities have been proposed for there and neighboring Readsboro.

Some of the small towns being features are Madrid, New Mexico, population 204, and Love Valley, N.C., population 90.

According to the 2010 census, Searsburg's population was 109.
