Everard scores four to lead Panthers

HOOSICK, N.Y. — The Hoosick Falls boys soccer team spotted Stillwater an early goal, but went on to a 5-2 win on Tuesday.

David Everard scored four of the five goals, two each in the first and second half.

Everard's scores made it 2-1 before John Reynolds picked up a loose ball and fired it past the Stillwater keeper to take a 3-1 lead into the half. Stillwater scored first in the second half to pull within one, but Everard added two more scores for the final margin.

Hoosick Falls keeper Cody Hodges had eight saves while Stillwater keeper Tim Buchal had five stops.

The Panthers will travel to Tamarac for a game on Thursday.

Wasaren League golf

TROY, N.Y. — The Greenwich golf team claimed the Wasaren League championship at the Troy Country Club on Tuesday.

Greenwich scored a 241, 12 shots ahead of second-place Hoosick Falls, who ended up with a 253. Spa Catholic was third with a 254.

For the Panthers, Ryan Bloomer led the way with a 81, followed by Connor Smith's 82. Mathew Smith and Miles Smith rounded out the scoring.

Cambridge only had a pair of golfers compete, with Ben Epler's 90 and Nethaniel Woodcock's 95 the only two scores.

Reed Boduch was the medalist with a 78.

Hoosick still unbeaten

TROY, N.Y. — Emily Schnoop had a goal and an assist to lead the Hoosick Falls field hockey team to its eighth straight victory, 2-0, over Emma Willard.

Mackenzie Sprague opened the scoring with a goal halfway through the first half, assisted by Schnoop. Schnoop then scored her own tally four minutes into the second half. Lillian Hickey assisted on the score.

Zoe Gress made three saves in the cage, Zian Taylor also made three stops for Emma Willard.

Hoosick Falls is scheduled to play today against Salem.

Indians come out on top in wild game

WATERFORD, N.Y. — On a hot day, the Cambridge and Waterford boys soccer teams battled to a 5-4 Cambridge win on Tuesday.

In the 24th minute, Carter Hall gave Cambridge a 1-0 lead, then made it 2-0 off a corner kick in the 35th minute, making it 2-0 Cambridge at halftime.

Cambridge struck quickly, scoring just a minute or so into the half by Eli Robertson. Waterford would then answer within a minute and make it 3-1. Cambridge would then score again off another corner kick making it 4-1. Waterford scored again three minutes later making it 4-2. Cambridge would then answer with a goal of their own in the 48th minute, on a PK by Patrick Robertson, 5-2 Cambridge.

The game scoring would settle down for 10 minutes until Waterford scored in the 58th minute, then again in the 68th minute to make it 5-4. The last 12 minutes saw back and forth action between both teams. With 3 minutes left, Waterford had an excellent opportunity to tie the game just outside the 6-yard box but the ball was shot over the goal.

Cambridge improves to 6-2-1 with the victory.

Track and Treat Halloween Fun Run in North Bennington

NORTH BENNINGTON — The Village School of North Bennington is hosting a 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, Oct 28. There will also be an Obstacle/Adventure Course available for the younger children. Registration is at 8 a.m. with the Family Fun Run/Walk at 9 a.m. and the 5K Run/Walk at 9:30 A.M.. 5K Pre-registration is $20, day of race is $25; Family Fun Run $10.

Participants are encouraged to dress in costume and prizes will be given! Bring the entire family to the Village School of North Bennington for a fun morning. Steve Colvin 5K

HOOSICK, N.Y. — The fourth annual Stephen Colvin Memorial 5K is coming on Saturday, Oct. 7 at Wood Memorial Park in Hoosick Falls. The race will begin at 9 a.m. from the park and money raised will benefit the Stephen Colvin Scholarship Fund awards.

Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female overall finishers in both the walk and run categories. Also the top male and female in each of the following categories will receive a medal: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and over.

T-shirts will be available while supplies last. Early registration is $10 by Sept. 20 and $15 until race day. All students are $10 for registration.
