Rizio-Wood Memorial Golf scholarships awarded
MANCHESTER -- In memory of Joe Rizio and Richard Wood, five golf scholarships were awarded for 2014.
These scholarships, each for $2,000, were presented to Zachary Temple (Hanover Country Club), Garrett Brown (Lake St. Catherine Country Club), Kyle Boucher (The Golf Club at Equinox, Manchester Country Club and Lake St. Catherine Country Club), Hunter Caler (Manchester Country Club) and Tyler McNulty (Mount Anthony Country Club).
The monies raised for these scholarships come from the annual Rizio-Wood Memorial Golf Tournament, to be held this year at The Golf Club at the Equinox on Sunday, Aug. 17, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
To date, more than $60,000 has been given out in scholarships to more than 25 different recipients. This tournament is a really fun day with friends, golf, prizes and food. More importantly, it’s a day to support local golf and to remember two great friends who loved and wanted to share the game with others.
If you are unable to come out and play on that day, you can lend your support by sponsoring a team of players, sponsoring a golf tee, or by donating a prize or a gift certificate.
