Divers tow plane wreckage from reservoir to shore

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. >> Divers towed a large portion of a plane found about 60 feet deep in a New York reservoir to shore.

Authorities said Sunday they may have found the front of the 1971 Beechcraft Bonanza and the bodies of the pilot and his wife in the Titicus Reservoir in North Salem. Authorities identified them as Val and Taew Horsa of South Salem.

The plane crashed in the reservoir as the pilot approached the Danbury Airport in Connecticut shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday.

A spokesman for the New York City Department of Environmental Protection says a dozen divers battled cold water while scouring the reservoir. Searchers also were using sonar on boats to check the water for plane debris.
