Court in brief
- Nicholas Barber, 27, of Bennington pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor count of domestic assault. He was released with conditions. The charge stems from an alleged offense made on Dec. 21 investigated by Bennington police. Barber will return to court on Jan. 29.
- Robert Elias, 76, of Shaftsbury pleaded not guilty to a felony count of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child. He was released with conditions. The charge stems from an alleged offense made on Dec. 10 investigated by Bennington police. Elias will return to court on Jan. 29.
- Katherine A. McLenithan, 26, of Shaftsbury pleaded guilty to a felony count of selling heroin. She received a two-year deferred sentence with probation. The charge stems from a February offense investigated by the Vermont State Police. Under a plea agreement, a felony count of heroin possession was dismissed. The case was prosecuted by Deputy State's Attorney Robert Plunkett. McLenithan was represented by William D. Wright.
