Couple welcomes first baby of 2016 in Bennington County
BENNINGTON — Haley Ann Guley arrived at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center a day after she was due. Kimberly Sirois and Robert Guley welcomed the seven pound, 15 ounce, 19 inch girl at 1:23 p.m. on Sunday. She is the first baby born at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in 2016.
Sirois' said she was in labor for only 20 minutes.
"I'm very excited," she said. "I thought he [Robert] was going to cry."
Doctors had once told the couple that they weren't physically able to have children, leaving Haley to be considered a miracle child, Sirois said.
Guley proposed to marry Sirois on Christmas Day, in hopes their daughter will walk as a flower girl in their wedding.
Sirois was accompanied at the hospital by her mother, Elizabeth King and her aunt, Tina Sirois.
"She'll definitely be spoiled," King said. "It's exciting to get my first grandchild."
"Thinking about when Kimberly was born, its like, where does the time go, it goes by so fast," Tina Sirois said.
This is Kimberly Sirois' first baby, and she resides in Bennington.
