Estes receives awards from Framingam State

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- Hillary Estes, daughter of Judi and David Estes of Bennington, a Framingham State University senior received the Alpha Lambda Delta Book Award; the Cheryl Spencer Memorial Scholarship Award and Rachel Bangs Outstanding Consumer Sciences Department Senior Award at Framingham State University from President Timothy J. Flanagan and Vice President of Enrollment and Students Development Susanne Conley at the University’s Awards and Recognition Ceremony held recently. Elizabeth Robertson ‘90 Selected as SVC Distinguished Alumna

BENNINGTON -- Elizabeth (Murphy) Robertson of Clifton Park, N.Y., has been recognized by Southern Vermont College as the 2013 Distinguished Alumna. The Distinguished Alumni Award is given to an alumna or alumnus of SVC or its predecessor, St. Joseph College, in recognition of a combination of career, community service and personal achievements.

Robertson is associate vice president for admission at Russell Sage College and Sage College of Albany.

"We are so proud of SVC alumna Elizabeth Robertson who not only pursued her chosen career which started at Southern Vermont College with a passion. And she is passionate about giving back to her field and her community," said SVC President Karen Gross.

Robertson was one of the speakers at SVC’s May 11 commencement exercises. She is a member of the board of trustees for the Albany Leadership Charter School for Girls in Albany.

In addition to her bachelor of science degree in business administration from SVC, Robertson earned a master’s degree in education administration from MCLA.

Perrotta graduates from SVC

BENNINGTON -- Victoria Perrotta of Bennington graduated Cum Laude with an associate in science degree in nursing from Southern Vermont College on May 11.

Perrotta is a graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School.

DeCesare receives awards from SVC

MANCHESTER -- Stacy DeCesare of Manchester graduated from and received awards from Southern Vermont College.

DeCesare graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in nursing from SVC on May 11. She received the Academic Achievement Award in Nursing at SVC’s Honors Convocation this spring.

This award is presented to outstanding students who have earned the highest cumulative grade-point average in their major field of study with a minimum of 3.0. DeCesare received the Vermont State Nurses Association Clinical Excellence Award. VSNA is a membership association for professional registered nurses, with members from all types of nursing in Vermont. VSNA works to ensure excellence in nursing care through advocacy, expertise, innovation and leadership.

DeCesare is the wife of Brian DeCesare and mother of Matthew DeCesare and Tucker Cox.

Loomis receives Student Sage award

Gabrielle Loomis, a rising senior at Mount Anthony Union High School, has received The Sage Colleges’ distinguished designation as a "Student Sage" scholar. Scholars are nominated by their high school guidance counselors and must exemplify Sage’s motto, "To Be, To Know, To Do." Award winners are guaranteed a scholarship toward tuition at Russell Sage College or Sage College of Albany in recognition of their academic achievements and community involvement.

Area students named to Hamilton College dean’s list

CLINTON, N.Y. -- The following local students were named to the dean’s list at Hamilton College for the 2013 spring semester:

* Noah B. Lowenthal, son of Wilhelmina Margalis and Richard Lowenthal of North Bennington. Lowenthal, a rising sophomore, is a graduate of The Long Trail School.

* Ianna M. Recco, daughter of Maria and John Recco of Hoosick, N.Y. Recco, a rising sophomore, is a graduate of Emma Willard School.

Hamilton, a liberal arts college with an emphasis on individualized instruction and independent research, is a national leader in teaching effective writing and persuasive speaking.

Stevens graduates from Bryant & Stratton College

ALBANY -- Thomas Stevens of Shaftsbury, was awarded the associate of applied science degree in the medical assisting program, summa cum laude, at the 156th commencement of Bryant & Stratton College on April 27.

Area VMI cadets named to dean’s list

LEXINGTON, VA -- The following Virginia Military Institute cadet is among the 671 cadets who were recently named to the dean’s list for the second semester of academic year 2012-13. To be eligible for the dean’s list, a cadet must have a term grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and no grade below C.

Isaac M. Lewis, a freshman from Bennington, VT, is majoring in economics/business.

His parents are Mr. Gregory A. Lewis and Sarah J. Lewis.

Lilac named to dean’s list at SUNY-Cortland

HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Alex Lilac from Hoosick Falls, a freshman at the State University of New York College at Cortland, earned a place on the dean’s list for the Spring 2013 semester. He is majoring in physical education.

As a member of the Men’s Basketball Team, he earned a spot on the State University of New York Athletic Conference All-Academic List.

Graney named to dean’s list at Endicott College

BEVERLY, Mass. -- Endicott College is pleased to announce Ayla Marie Gee Graney was recently named to the dean’s list students for spring, 2013. Graney is the daughter of Bernie & Cathy Graney of Hoosick Falls, N.Y. She is a sophomore majoring in visual communications.

Keating named to dean’s list at Bryant & Stratton

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Brandi Keating of Albany, daughter of Christopher Keating of Bennington and Virginia Keating of California City, Calif., was recently named to the dean’s list at Bryant & Stratton College. She is majoring in the accounting program.

Florin-Weiss graduates from Hobart and William Smith Colleges

GENEVA, N.Y. -- Dana Florin-Weiss ‘13, of North Bennington, VT received a bachelor’s degree during the 2013 Commencement ceremonies of Hobart and William Smith Colleges, held May 19.

Florin-Weiss, the child of Dr. Fredric Weiss and Peggy Florin, majored in media and society. While a student, Florin-Weiss participated in the study abroad program, Rome - SP12.

McClintock named to provost list at SVC

BENNINGTON -- Matthew McClintock of North Bennington has been named to the provost list at Southern Vermont College. The provost list recognizes full-time students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 during the spring semester.

McClintock is majoring in psychology, and is a graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School. McClintock is the son of Maureen and Lon McClintock of North Bennington.

Local residents on NMH Honor Roll

MOUNT HERMON, Mass. -- The following local students have been named to the academic honor roll for the 2013 spring term at Northfield Mount Hermon School.

* Fred Windover of Bennington, a member of the Class of 2013, received Honors.

* William Capitani of West Dover, a member of the Class of 2014, received High Honors.

Cranston named to dean’s list at Dean College

FRANKLIN, Mass. -- Alec Cranston of Woodford has been named to the dean’s list at Dean College of Franklin, Mass.

Hogan named to dean’s list at Boston University

BOSTON -- Charlotte E. Hogan, a resident of Bennington, has recently been named to the dean’s list at Boston University for the spring semester.

Elwell named to ISU dean’s list

POCATELLO, Idaho -- Allison Elwell of North Bennington has earned a place on the Idaho State University 2013 spring semester dean’s list for the School of Rehabilitation and Communication Sciences, announced Nancy Devine, associate dean and director.
