Parmenter scholarship

CASTLETON -- Local Castleton College student Lacy Parmenter of Bennington was a recent recipient of the Castleton College Academic Recognition Scholarship.

This scholarship is presented to first-year students who have a minimum GPA of 3.75 on at least 15 graded credits. Scholarship winners receive a $4,000 annual scholarship, enrollment in Honors courses during the sophomore year, the option to live in Honors housing and eligibility to serve on the Honors Council.

Hale makes Plymouth State U. fall dean's list

PLYMOUTH, N.H. -- Caitlyn Hale of Manchester Center and Bennett Timmerman of Arlington were named to Plymouth State University's Dean's List for the fall 2013 semester.

To be named to the dean's list at Plymouth State, a student must achieve a GPA between 3.5 and 3.69 during the fall semester and must have attempted at least 12 credit hours during the semester. These credit hours must be in courses that earn grade points and the student must have completed all such courses attempted.

Petit on Embry-Riddle dean's list

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Curtis Petitt, son of Wendy and Bob Petitt of North Bennington, received academic honors at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University by making the dean's list for the Fall 2013 semester.

A freshman at ERAU, Petitt is majoring in Air Traffic Management with a double minor in Meteorology and Occupational Safety. He earned a 4.0 GPA and was recognized for outstanding scholarship and accomplishment.

Gates selected for Biology Honorary Society at St. Lawrence

CANTON, N.Y. -- Kathleen J. Gates of Buskirk has been selected for membership in St. Lawrence University's chapter of Beta Beta Beta, the national biological honorary society. Gates is majoring in neuroscience and is a member of the class of 2015 at St. Lawrence. She graduated from Emma Willard School.

To be eligible for membership, students must have an overall GPA of at least 3.25, have completed four biology courses and have earned a 3.5 GPA in those courses. The biology major is one of the most popular programs at St. Lawrence.

Local students named to Le Moyne's deans list

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Two local students have been named to the dean's list (those with a GPA of 3.5 or higher) for the fall 2013 semester at Le Moyne College: Alex Altland of North Bennington. Altland is a freshman majoring in English. Catherine Sharkey of Bennington. Sharkey is a junior majoring in peace and global studies.

Local students name to RPI fall 2013 dean's list

TROY, N.Y. -- About 3,250 students at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute were named to the dean's list for the fall 2013 semester. The dean's list recognizes full-time students who maintain GPA of a minimum of 3.0 out of a possible 4.0 and have no grades below "C." Dean's list recipients include: Seth Foster, of Eagle Bridge, who studies mechanical engineering; Michael Weiler, of Sandgate, Vt., who studies electronic media, arts, and communications; Zachariah Weinfurt, of Bennington, Vt., who studies aeronautical engineering; Jason Woods, of Eagle Bridge, who studies computer science.

Local students on Vt. Tech dean's list

BENNINGTON -- Vermont Tech is proud to announce that a notable 310 students have been recognized with two of the college's highest honors for the fall 2013 semester, with 258 students named to the dean's list and 52 students named to the president's list.

Local students on the dean's list include Christina Crawford from Arlington; Steven Kimball, Gregory McGowan, Mallory O'Neill, Melissa Prendergast and Amanda Shakar from Bennington; Kathleen Cloud from North Bennington; Christine LaBaff from North Pownal; Ashley Morrison and Jaskia Tobin from Pownal; Hannah Holt from Old Bennington; Sarah Jacobs and Michelle Obenauer from Shaftsbury; and John Tietgens from Stamford.

Local students on dean's list at RIT

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The following local residents made the dean's list for Fall 2013 semester at Rochester Institute of Technology:

Evan Francis of Bennington, Vt., is a fourth-year student in the new media interactive development program in RIT's B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences.

Deven Greenawalt of Bennington is a third-year student in the mechanical engineering program in RIT's Kate Gleason College of Engineering.

Ethan Marsh of Manchester, Vt., is a first-year student in the mechanical engineering program in RIT's Kate Gleason College of Engineering.

Kelby Moriarty of Eagle Bridge, is a fourth-year student in the diagnostic medical sonography program in RIT's College of Health Sciences and Technology.

Adam Podolec of Cambridge is a fifth-year student in the electrical engineering program in RIT's Kate Gleason College of Engineering.

James Woodard of Manchester Center, Vt., is a first-year student in the new media interactive development program in RIT's B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences.

Degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for dean's list if their quarterly GPA is greater than or equal to 3.4; they do not have any grades of "Incomplete," "D" or "F," and they have registered for, and completed, at least 12 credit hours.

Local students make dean's list at Norwich

NORTHFIELD -- The following students from this area have been recognized on the dean's list at Norwich University for the fall 2013 semester: Dennis Michael Brooks of Bennington, Nathaniel Joseph Malmborg of Bennington, Shawna Lynne Shea of Pownal. Norwich University is a diversified academic institution that educates traditional-age students and adults in a Corps of Cadets and as civilians.
