Charged with soliciting donations for a false charity

MANCHESTER -- Police say a Sudbury woman was going around town last week soliciting donations for a supposed children’s charity, then altering the checks to be cashed at higher amounts.

Manchester Police said Sara M. Wilbur, 34, was arrested and cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court in Bennington on Monday.

Police said the matter was reported on Aug. 7. On Aug. 13, Manchester Police went looking for Wilbur at her home in Sudbury, but learned she had moved to a hotel in Brandon the day before. Brandon Police ultimately found and arrested her.
