Police say the fire at Stone's Lodge and Fat Spy Tavern on River Road was reported at about 3:20 a.m. Thursday. Winhall Fire Department along with several neighboring fire departments were dispatched for a report of fire on the roof.
After what Winhall Police described as "an extensive firefighting operation," the restaurant, night club, and tavern portion of the building were a complete loss.
Firefighters were able to save a lodging portion of the building.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and continues to be investigated by Winhall Police & Rescue Department and the State Fire Investigation Team. Anyone with information about the fire is asked to contact Winhall police.
