Catamount Access Television to elect three to its board of directors


BENNINGTON — Catamount Access Television is looking for applicants to fill two vacant spots on its board of directors.

According to Executive Director Lisa Byer, the board meets once a month, on the fourth Monday at 4 p.m. The nine-member group serves as an advisory board for the community access television station, which operates three channels in the Bennington area.

"We're looking for people who are involved in the community, who want to help us further CAT-TV's mission," said Byer.

According to its website, the mission of CAT-TV is to enable, support and promote the production and distribution of PEG (public, education, and government) access television programs by and for educational, charitable, social service, religious, governmental, electoral or other non-profit organizations; residents of, or members of a group which operate primarily within Bennington County and contiguous areas; To distribute these programs on its PEG access cable television channels and other publicly accessible telecommunication networks or facilities, as it deems appropriate; To provide for the care and custody of equipment, facilities and programs owned or used by CAT-TV; To seek and receive grants from public and private sources in order to meet the expenses of the aforesaid purposes, and; To exercise any other rights or responsibilities incidental to or associated with applicable law.

The current board is made up of President Frank Barnes, Vice President Drew Totten, Treasurer Lindy Lynch, Secretary Willy Jones, Sarah Perrin, Tom Dailey, and Marcia Noyes. Noyes is running for re-election. Each of the three open seats has a three-year term.

To be eligible to be on the station's board of directors, one must be over 21 years of age, and be either a subscriber to the Comcast Cable system or be a member in good standing at CAT-TV. Once applications have been submitted, CAT-TV subscribers will vote on the directors. Nomination forms are available by contacting Byer at 802-442-8868, and are due by July 19.

Comcast Cable subscribers in Bennington, North Bennington, Woodford, Pownal, or Shaftsbury who are not already active CAT-TV members can register to vote in this year's election online at or by contacting William Gardner at 802-442-8868 or All registrations must be received by July 19.

Official ballots will be mailed to all active CAT-TV members and Comcast subscribers beginning on July 29. Completed ballots must be returned by Aug. 15. New board members will be seated at the September 19th CAT-TV Board Meeting.
