Bulldogs grab three all-star nods
MANCHESTER >> The Burr and Burton boys lacrosse team had a couple of their players earn all-star honors, when the Vermont all-state teams were announced on Tuesday.
Carter Vickers received Division I all-star honors for his play on offense for the Bulldogs this season, totaling close to 200 total points on the year.
On defense, BBA had two players earn all Division I honors in seniors Nikolai Sands and Murray Senecal.
Both Sands and Senecal will continue to play lacrosse at the college level with Sands attending Bowdoin College and Senecal going to play for Arcadia University.
"I'm very proud of all three them for getting all-state honors," said BBA coach Jason Pergament. "Carter had a great season on offense for us, and both Nikolai and Murray were huge part of why we were successful on defense the past three years. I'm proud of all of them and happy that southern Vermont is getting the recognition it deserves the with talent we have down here."
BBA lost to Essex in the quarterfinals of the Division I tournament and finished the season with a 12-5 record.
Travel softball team seeks players
BENNINGTON >> If you're a girl who loves softball and are looking for more games after your school season ends, then travel softball is for you!
The New England Alliance team is looking for more players.

The 14-and-under New England Alliance is traveling to Keene and Hampton Beach, N.H., as well as Glens Falls and Amsterdam, N.Y.
To culminate the season, we travel to Eastern Nationals in York, Pa. Try outs will be on June 16 in Salem from 6-8 p.m.
Youth lax camp at Willow Park
BENNINGTON >> The Southern Vermont Youth Lacrosse camp for boys will be held in Willow Park from July 11 to July 14.
The camp for players ages 6-8 will attend from 9 to 11 a.m. while the 9-16 age group will attend from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
This is a great camp to introduce the sport of lacrosse to new players and equipment is available for those who need it.
The cost is $75 for 6-8 year olds and $150 for 9-16 year olds.
Southern Vermont football camp
MANCHESTER >> The Sparxx Athletics football camp for youth players will run from July 11 to 14 at Taylor Field on the campus of Burr and Burton Academy.
The camp, which goes each day from 5 to 8 p.m., will showcase the top college and high school football players in the area in a hands-on experience to improve the grassroots of football.
The cost to attend the camp is $100, and $125 after June 1.

Werner holding annual soccer camps
ARLINGTON >> Retired Arlington and Castleton soccer coach John Werner will again be running soccer camps locally. Werner and his experienced staff are committed to providing a quality camp experience, with the emphasis on learning and fun, at a reasonable cost.
The three camps are as follows:
The Battenkill Soccer Camp for those entering grades 1 through 8 will be held the week of July 18 from 9 a.m. until noon at Greenwich Central School in Greenwich, N.Y. This camp emphasizes the technical development of each player as well as small group tactics.
The co-director is Coach Tim Kelleher, Greenwich varsity boys coach.
The Arlington Soccer Camp for those entering grades 1 through 8 will be held the week of Aug. 1 from 9 a.m. until noon at Arlington High School.
This camp also emphasizes the technical development of each player as well as small group tactics.
The Arlington Senior Soccer Camp for those entering grades 9 through 12 will be held the week of Aug. 1 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Arlington High School.
This camp includes position specific training.
