Bulldogs draw with Monument Mountain


GREAT BARRINGTON, MASS. — The Burr and Burton boys soccer team played Monument Mountain to a 2-2 draw on Monday.

BBA took a 2-0 lead with Will Sambrook drilling a penalty kick in the 45th minute and Felix Kershaw scored in the 61st minute, assisted by Ben Stewart.

The Spartans came back with a pair of scores in the final 10 minutes, Noel Powell cut the lead in the 71st minute and Matt Walsh scored with four minutes left.

BBA goes to 0-1-1 and plays Brattleboro in the John James Tournament on Thursday at 5 p.m. in Bennington.

Panthers continue perfect season

HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. >> Hoosick Falls played Greenwich at the Hoosick Falls Country Club, scoring a 3-2 win on Monday.

Hoosick Falls got victories from Ryan Bloomer (2-1), Mathew Smith (3-1) and Hayden Smith (3-2).

Jake Bowes topped Connor Smith 1-up, while Darren Pemrick beat Miles Smith 1-up.

Bloomer, Mathew Smith and Connor Smith shot sectional scores.

The Panthers won their 10th straight against no losses.

Hoosick Falls plays again on Wednesday against Hoosic Valley.

Hoosick blanks Corinth

HOOSICK, N.Y. >> The Hoosick Falls field hockey team won its fourth straight to start the year with a 4-0 win over Corinth.

Ally Burdick and Caitlyn Boyd scored within a minute of each other to take a 2-0 lead to the half. Boyd's goal was assisted by Cecilia Vincent.

In the second half, Eliza Whitman scored twice, the first one assisted by Liz Ryan for the final score.

Zoe Gress and Kaitlin Backes combined for four saves.

Panthers drop Wasaren League matchup

STILLWATER, N.Y. >> Stillwater scored a goal in each half in a 2-0 win over Hoosick Falls on Monday night.

Brooke Pickett and Sydney Wayand scored for the Warriors.

Sydney Miller was in goal for the Panthers, who drop to 2-2 overall.
