Brownell is back, Ryder and Strohmaier for Pownal board


POWNAL -- Nelson Brownell was elected to a three-year seat on the Select Board with 320 votes, defeating incumbent Michael George, who received 252 votes.

In a four-way race for two one-year board seats Rich Ryder and Henry Strohmaier came out on top with 331 votes and 356 votes respectively. Elizabeth "Betty" Baker received 140 votes while Harry "Hap" Percey got 240.

Ellen Strohmaier was reelected delinquent tax collector for a one-year term with 375 votes, defeating Suzanne Caraman who had 217.

Debra Dickinson was elected auditor with 489 votes. She ran unopposed.

The town budget of $809,440 passed with 420 "yes" votes to 180 "no" votes.

The highway budget passed with 438 "yes" votes to 161 "no" votes.

All other ballot articles passed.
