Bromley to host 13th annual 'Mom's Day Off' fundraiser

PERU — In an effort to raise money for the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center, Bromley Mountain in Peru will host the 13th annual "Mom's Day Off" fundraiser this Friday.

Moms can ski or ride for $20 by showing a picture of their child or children to the ticket seller. The entire fee will go to the Cancer Center. Participants will have the opportunity to meet some physicians and staff of the center all around the mountain and lodge.

The Cancer Center raised $6,553 last year and $7,080 in 2014, according to Ashley Brenon Jowett, Southwestern Vermont Medical Center's communications and marketing specialist.

"We are so grateful to Bromley Mountain for organizing this fun and dynamic fundraiser to benefit the Cancer Center at SVMC," Carson Thurber, senior gifts officer of the SVHC Foundation said. "We love that it provides the hardworking moms in our area an opportunity to have some fun and that it supports the important work happening on behalf of cancer patients right here."

The Cancer Center receives funds from various entities including the Cancer Center Community Crusaders who will be holding a Cabin Fever Dance at the Bennington Elks on Feb. 27, as well as the Cupcake Crusade at SVMC in June. Additionally, family members of patients who receive treatment will fundraise as well as employees, Jowett said.
