Boston teen faces adult charges in death of 9-year-old brother
BOSTON (AP) -- A 14-year-old Boston boy charged with fatally shooting his 9-year-old brother heads to court to face adult charges.
Prosecutors say Juanly Pena is scheduled to be arraigned Monday on charges of manslaughter and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Pena was indicted last month as an adult in connection with the February death of his brother Janmarcos, in their Dorchester home, making his name public.
Authorities say the shooting, thought to be accidental, occurred late on a weekday morning when both boys should have been at school. Their mother was not home at the time.
The older boy’s lawyer has said that his client is "scared and heartbroken."
