Big Cats are back
BENNINGTON -- Big Cats are back! The Vermont mountain lion, known as the Catamount, has been seen back in Bennington. The whimsical six foot sculptures are out for a short time leading up to the fabulous Midsummer Night Prowl and Auction of July 19, 2014 at Colgate Park. Several Catamounts are off spreading the word out at Man of Kent on Route 9, the Guilford Welcome Center, Evans News in Manchester, and up at the Bennington Welcome Center on Route 279.
If you ever wanted to own a big cat or have a garden that needs protection, these will be your best friends. Come enjoy the art work and help Bennington celebrate the creativity of our artists. Visit Colgate Park on Route 9 West. You will discover a wide variety of exquisite sculptures of the Catamount all over the lawns for your enjoyment.
Stop by the Bennington Area Chamber of Commerce Office and see "Pink." Come in and purchase a raffle ticket (3/$10) which goes to fund local Cancer Research. You may be the lucky winner who takes "Pink" home in July. You may prefer to donate it to your local hospital or medical facility.
Now is the time to go Catamount Hunting. You won't need a permit to take pictures and select your favorites. Several will not be up for auction because their Sponsors wanted to pre-buy them and there will be a sign on them so you will know. Pick up a map of current locations from the Chamber Office at 100 Veterans Memorial Drive. Call for more information at 802-447-3311. Check www.catamountprowl.com .
Save the date of July 19, 2014 for the Party and Auction of these amazing creatures. It will be held at the lovely Colgate Park under the stars and tent with a Taste of Vermont, music, live auction and fun. Tickets will be $50 a person.
