Best-selling author Grisham to visit Northshire Bookstore
Grisham, who is undertaking his first promotional book tour in 25 years, will visit the Northshire on June 8 to sign and present his new book, "Camino Island."
"I am thrilled," Northshire co-owner Chris Morrow said by email on Wednesday. "I consider it a testament to all the hard work over the years of focusing on creating an uplifting space, selecting great books and gifts, and hiring the best booksellers."
"Publishers are becoming more reluctant to send authors to small media markets, so we have to work harder to attract big name authors," Morrow said. "When someone of John Grisham's stature picks us, it makes it all worthwhile."
Morrow said the visit has been in the works for a few weeks.
"We do not yet know how and why he chose us, but we are very grateful," he said.
"Camino Island" is being published by Doubleday two days before the event, on June 6.
Tickets are $32 and are valid for the signing, between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., and a discussion and question and answer session starting at 5 p.m. Sales will be limited to 200 tickets, which can be purchased at the Northshire's website.
Grisham, an Ole Miss-educated lawyer, wrote his first novel, "A Time To Kill," in mornings before going to work at a Southaven, Mississippi law practice. "A Time To Kill," was published in 1988, and his second book, "The Firm," was the best-selling book of 1991 and established him as one of the world's most popular authors.
According to Grisham's website, 300 million of his books are in print worldwide and have been translated into 40 languages. Nine of his novels have been made into films.
