Bennington teen accused of stealing car

BENNINGTON -- A man who left his keys in his truck while he stepped into Tractor Supply Co. found his vehicle gone when he came back out.

According to an affidavit by Bennington Police Sgt. Michael Plush, on Sept. 11 at 4:13 p.m. he spoke to Kenneth Reynolds, who said his 1999 GMC had been stolen from the parking lot of Tractor Supply Co. on Depot Street.

Plusch wrote that around this time the department also received word of a runaway juvenile identified as Brandon Yandow, 16. Plusch said a short time later, police in Mount Tabor said they located Yandow driving the reportedly stolen truck.

Yandow admitted to taking the vehicle because he wished to go see his parents.

He pleaded not guilty Monday in Vermont Superior Court to a misdemeanor charge of operating a vehicle without the owner's consent. He was released on conditions that require him to appear at future court hearings.
