Bennington County volunteer fair a success
BENNINGTON >> Bennington was buzzing with energy at the Department of Health Oct. 21. Forty people of all ages came and spoke with representatives from local non-profits, filled out interest forms, not for jobs, but for volunteer opportunities at 18 different non-profits.
Green Mountain RSVP organized the fair, the first of its kind for Bennington County, to help match local organizations with people in the community who want to volunteer. The event was very successful, each nonprofit found new talent for their organization and they built relationships with other groups who provide services in our community. We look forward to hosting this event again before the summer.
Green Mountain RSVP thanks each nonprofit that attended and supported the fair: Southwestern Vermont Council on Aging, On-Call Vermont, Bennington Area VNA & Hospice, Head Start, Big Brothers Big Sisters, SASH, Seedlings Mentoring Program, Bennington Area Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, Bennington Free Library, Center for Restorative Justice, PAVE, AARP Tax Aide, American Red Cross, Bart Adaptive Sports Center, Bennington Relay for Life, Vermont Veterans Home, Bennington Arts Guild and Bennington Oral Health Coalition.
Thank you to the generous local businesses for providing food and door prizes: Madison Brewing Co, Mexican Connection, Bennington Sports and Graphics, Ramuntos Pizza, Jays Art Shop, Bennington Bookshop, Elm Street Market, JK Adams, Panache, Scarlett Creations, CCV, Bennington Free Library, North Street Dunkin Donuts, and the Gift Garden.
