BBA edged out by Raiders

MANCHESTER — The Burr and Burton girls basketball team had a chance to tie Rutland in the final seconds of their game on Thursday night, but a last-second shot missed the mark and Rutland escaped with a 42-39 victory.

Elise Magro led all scorers with 25 for the Raiders, who improve to 5-10 on the year. BBA's Carol Herbert scored 16, while Emily Bleakie added eight in defeat for the Bulldogs, who are 7-11 and travel to Mount Anthony on Monday.

Mack Attack registration

ARLINGTON — The Mack Attack AAU girls basketball season will begin with a try-out session on February 25, from 5-7 p.m., followed by a registration meeting at the Cambridge Central School gymnasium. All interested players, parents and coaches should plan to attend this meeting. Practice sessions begin in March with the first tournament scheduled to start March 24. Please note that the Cambridge gym will be the "home" gym this year because of the unavailability of the Arlington gym due to water damage.

AAU basketball provides girls with an opportunity to improve basketball skills and knowledge through a challenging level of play. Girls in grades 6-11, who are interested in playing for Mack Attack, should contact Coordinator Ashley Hoyt at hoytas@bvsu.org or 802-345-1951. Youth cheer in Hoosick Falls

HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. — The Town of Hoosick Community Center (Youth Center) will be offering a six-week cheerleading program starting February 24. The program will run Saturday mornings from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Youth Center at 115 Church St.

Coaches are Tiffany McMahon and Torie Marbot. The cost is $25 for current Youth Center members and $50 for non-members (which gets you a membership). Sign up forms can be picked up in advance at the Youth Center or on the first day of the program.

Registration for soccer club begin

HOOSICK, N.Y. — The Hoosick Falls Soccer Club is registering players for the spring season.

The Early Bird Special is happening now, the cost is $45 and registration closes on March 15.

Kids ranging from three years old to sixth grade can sign up.

Bennington Little League signup

BENNINGTON — The Bennington Little League will host a sign-up day on Feb. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bennington Fire House.

Children ages 5-11 by August 30 or 12 by April 30 wishing to play this season must register. This registration is for the entire Bennington and surrounding area. Returning players need to register as well. Birth certificates (xerox copies, no originals necessary) are required at time of registration.

The cost is $75 per player and $100 maximum per family. The cost for T-Ball players is $50. This year's fundraiser is included in the cost.

MALA registration

MALA is a youth lacrosse program from kindergarten to 8th grade for boys and girls representing Bennington, North Bennington, Woodford, Pownal and Shaftsbury.

Their boys and girls U9 instructional team season starts on April 9 and practices two days a week. Their boys and girls U11, U13 and U15 travel teams practice three to four days a week and their season starts on April 2.
