BBA boys basketball topple Middlebury in opener

MANCHESTER — The Burr and Burton Academy boys basketball team won their season opener 50-40 over Middlebury on Wednesday night.

Junior Carter Vickers led all scorers with 13 points and had five rebounds in the game. Fellow junior Griff Stalcup had scored 10 points, grabbed six rebounds and had a team-high five steals.

BBA will have its first road game on the season next when they face Bellows Free Academy at CVU for the Kevin Riell tournament on Friday.

Cambridge boys win season opener

BERLIN, N.Y. >> Dan Genevick scored a game and career-high 30 points as the Cambridge Central School boys basketball team got their season off on the right foot with a 73-52 win over Berlin on Wednesday night.

Genevick made 15 field goals, more than all of the Mountaineers, who had 14 on the night.

Ryan McLenithan added 13 and Kordell Benson had 10 for the Indians, who led by 18 at the half.

Cambridge is 1-0 and hosts New Lebanon on Friday.

Cambridge girls top Corinth

CORINTH, N.Y. >> After losing their season opener to South Glens Falls on Tuesday, the Cambridge Central School girls Basketball team bounced back on Wednesday with a 35-23 win over Corinth.

The Indians trailed by one at the half, but outscored Corinth 21-8 in the second half to come back and win the game.

Cambridge's Lilly Snyder had a team high 8 points in the contest and the Indians will finish up its three game road trip to start the season, when they play Berlin next Monday.
