Assistance available for Vermont's defense-related businesses

Posted

MONTPELIER >> The Vermont Department of Economic Development was recently awarded a grant from the US Department of Defense's (DoD's) Office of Economic Adjustment. These funds are available to help Vermont's defense-related businesses to diversify away from a reliance on the DoD in light of the recent reductions in DoD spending. "[This grant offers Vermont's defense-related businesses a great opportunity to receive consultative and training resources to aid them in pursuing new markets, or new products.]" said Joan Goldstein, Commissioner of the Department of Economic Development.

Businesses that have generated at least 10% of their sales in transactions where the DoD was the ultimate purchaser in at least one of the last five years will generally qualify for consideration under the grant. If you feel that your business qualifies, please contact the Department of Economic Development. The Department is currently creating a list of eligible businesses and a list of people to be invited to information sessions that will be held around the state to provide more information about eligibility and participation in the grant.
