Art for Ayden fundraiser to be held Saturday
SALEM, N.Y. - Art for Ayden: Creativity in Memory will be held Saturday, May 10, at 1 p.m. at Salem Art Works, 19 Cary Road, Salem. This event is being held in memory of Ayden Burdo who committed suicide on April 24, 2013.
Her family and friends have formed a team named Roses 4 Ayden and will once again participate in The Walk for R.I.T.A. this fall in Saratoga. This walk helps bring awareness, prevention and education to suicide. Ayden loved anything to do with art so this event is being held on her 21st birthday. The event will celebrate her life and raise money to make sure that no other family has to endure the pain of losing a loved one to suicide.
Still needed are local artisans to donate their artwork to sell at his event. There is a lot of space available for prints, paintings, photography, pottery, jewelry etc. To donate artwork to be sold by silent auction, contact Stacy Trueheart Smith, 518-791-5161; Jennifer Trueheart Hoffman, 518-260-9239; Tonia Burdo Goddard, 518-796-5580; or Michelle Burdo, 802-430-8836.
The entertainment lineup includes Saratoga Drum Ensemble, The Diva Project, The Buzzsaw Boys, James Frederick & the Foxmen; Peerless Pressure, individual soloists and poetry readings. Also, Roses 4 Ayden is putting a call out to any local bands or musicians that would like to donate their time to this event and play a few songs. Ayden also had a passion for spoken word poetry.
The fee to get into the event will be $10 for an adult and children under 10 will be free. Proceeds will go to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The event is BYOB. Please note IDs will be checked. There will be a food vendor.
