Annual Easter egg hunt to be held at Willow Park on Saturday

Posted

BENNINGTON >>On March 26, various colorful eggs will be scattered around Bennington's Willow Park upper pavilion to be found by children ages two to 10.

Kick off Easter weekend with the Bennington Parks and Recreation Department. There will be an age wave every 10 minutes with two and three-year-olds starting right at 11 a.m.

Since 1999 the department has held an Easter egg hunt at Willow Park. This year there are 5,000 eggs prepared with half containing candy or toys and the other half holding 500 prizes with tickets in them that can be redeemed for a bigger prize, according to Director Tracy Knight.

"We have hula hoops, basketballs, kites, skateboards, art kits; all sorts of goodies," she said. "We've always had a great turnout, I'd say at least 100 kids per age group."

With families and college students home being home for the holiday, Knight expects a similar outcome. Traditionally, the event is held the day before Easter Sunday.

The Northeast Baptist Church will also be donating items.
